About the Company
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the ATSI Act and subject to the PGPA Act. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and freshwater Country.
About the Role
We are seeking a senior HR Leader to influence and deliver strategic, organisational and operational objectives. Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate, this role is responsible for leading the HR, Recruitment, WHS and Payroll teams and driving best practice services across the business.
This role will proactively promote a focus on employee engagement, capacity building, culture development and adherence to ILSC’s values, in order to promote the attraction and retention of quality people and drive improved outcomes.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Leading, developing and supporting the People and Capability team
- Designing and delivery of Indigenous Employment and Engagement strategies
- Coaching and advising leaders on all aspects of ILSC's People & Capability strategies and objectives
- Ensuring a successful outcome rolling out the new National Indigenous Land and Sea Strategy
- Ensuring talent, succession and workforce planning, supporting improved business performance and growth
- Leading and directing People and Capability projects
- Leading all compliance activities relating to employment, pay and safety ensuring the business adheres to all legislation
About You
You will have proven experience working as an effective, engaging and respected leader within an Indigenous focused organisation. We are looking for that special people leader who combines best human resource practices with a natural abundance of energy, warmth and genuine enthusiasm which inspires and invigorates people around them.
Some key attributes that will ensure your success are:
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build trust at all levels
- The ability to communicate and influence effectively at senior levels of the organisation
- Capability and desire to work both strategically and operationally and to deliver "hands on" support with your team as and when necessary
- Strong commercial and business acumen
- The passion to motivate and inspire the People and Capability team
- Demonstrated capability and knowledge across all HR and governance disciplines, including WHS
