About the role
TAFE SA’s Aboriginal Access Centre (AAC) is seeking a dedicated Training Support Officer to support Aboriginal students on their learning journey. This role is crucial in providing vocational and educational counselling, case management, and guidance to help students transition into mainstream TAFE SA courses.
As the first point of contact for potential students and community groups, you will:
- Provide counselling and career guidance to Aboriginal students.
- Support students in their enrolment and study management.
- Promote vocational education and career pathways.
- Advocate for students in educational and personal matters.
- Build relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and providing vocational guidance.
- Strong mediation, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Knowledge of vocational education, training programs, and career pathways.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
- Out of hours work may be required
- Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
