About Developing East Arnhem Limited (DEAL):

Developing East Arnhem Limited (DEAL) is an independent not-for-profit organisation established to facilitate investment and economic development opportunities in East Arnhem between Yolŋu Traditional Owners, local organisations and businesses, governments, and investors.

Situated in Nhulunbuy, DEAL works across the East Arnhem region and is uniquely positioned to drive development and investment opportunities to smooth the transition to a diversified economy that grows and strengthens local jobs and communities.

Murra Partners, in close collaboration with Developing East Arnhem Limited (DEAL), is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded Yolŋu Business Development Officer (BDO) to help grow and support Aboriginal-led businesses across the East Arnhem region.

About the role:

The BDO will work with local Traditional Owners, community leaders, government, and industry, to co-design and deliver a regional support model that enables Yolŋu businesses to thrive from startup through to sustainability.

In this role you will:

  • Identify and mentor Yolŋu entrepreneurs and business owners

  • Design and lead regional business support programs

  • Build partnerships with Aboriginal corporations, funding bodies, and government

  • Share success stories to inspire local economic participation

  • Travel to remote communities via 4WD or light plane

About You:

We’re looking for someone with experience working successfully with Aboriginal people. You will bring the drive and capacity to establish a high level of cultural competency in working with the Yolŋu people of the region, in addition to working with industry, business and the wider community.

Your key experience will include:

  • Skills in business development, stakeholder engagement or consulting

  • Strong initiative, empathy, and cultural humility

  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel

  • Familiarity with grant funding, risk, governance, or business operations

Location: Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory (on Yolŋu country)
