Traditional Owners, local organisations and businesses, governments, and investors.

development and investment opportunities to smooth the transition to a diversified economy that

grows and strengthens local jobs and communities.

East Arnhem is transitioning from dependence on the long-term Rio Tinto operations on the Gove

Peninsula, due to end by the end of the decade. This transition will leave a unique infrastructure and

economic legacy for East Arnhem that is capable of being leveraged to develop a thriving and

sustainable regional economy which creates local jobs for future generations.

Position Purpose Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, the Yolŋu Business Development Officer will work closely with key stakeholders to lead the development and deployment of a regional model supporting existing and aspiring Yolŋu businesses and entrepreneurs in East Arnhem Land to achieve their socio- economic potential. In collaborative partnership with industry specialists, this role will provide support to the existing DEAL Business Support Clients and will also be responsible for identifying and working with new Yolŋu business clients in any sector to develop their business ideas at any stage of their business lifecycle. The role involves implementing, managing and monitoring an integrated regional model to support business development activities at scale across East Arnhem region. The model is designed to support the business lifecycle from incubation to sustainability. Business support areas span planning and strategy, development, governance, risk and compliance, financial and accounting, administration and logistics, fundraising, leadership and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities • Working with the General Manager, Operations, the role will lead the development and deployment

of a regional model, including integration of existing clients into the new model.

• Establish a baseline and metrics to measure the success of delivery of the Yolŋu Business

Development function.

• Manage delivery of the Business Development & Support function to meet funding and reporting

requirements.

• Monitor and support associated partnership agreements associated with the execution of the

Business Development function

• Identify opportunities for collaborative partnerships that support Yolŋu business development.

• Sharing case studies and Yolŋu business success stories across the region to support learning.

• Monitoring delivery of Service Agreements for existing DEAL Business Support Clients

• Identify a pipeline of potential Business Support Clients and establish service arrangements to help

them develop and establish their business ideas.

Business Analyst role Overview

This is an opportunity for you to apply your analytical skills and experience as part of DEAL’s economic development team. Reporting to the Senior Economic Development Manager, the Business Analyst will help identify, develop and deliver on diversified economic development opportunities for East Arnhem.

Business Analyst role (continued) Specifics

In collaboration with the Senior Economic Development manager:

• Applying well developed analytical skills to research and understand the socio-economic characteristics and trends of the region, business sectors and specific investment opportunities. This is likely to involve work on multiple tasks and the need to effectively manage and prioritise these diverse demands.

• Collect and combine a wide range of socio-economic information drawn from public sources, purchased datasets and from engaging with a wide range of organisations in the region.

• Develop effective working relationships across the DEAL team to understand the socio-economic information needed by each part of the team and be proactive in meeting these needs.

• Effectively communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to understand their socio-economic analysis needs, obtain the information to inform these needs and present results in emails briefings, presentations and accessible, robust reports.

• Developing a good understanding of the unique context of the East Arnhem Land including the cultural context of the region and the challenges and opportunities coming from the transition from mining as the key industry.

As part of the DEAL Team, you will be expected to follow all DEAL’s policies and to ensure your actions don’t negatively impact the health and/or safety of others or self in the workplace.

Role Requirements and Selection Criteria The things you need to be considered for this role:

• Qualifications and checks: Degree qualified in a discipline consistent with the requirements of this role (e.g. economics, business or a degree requiring the application of research and analysis skills), current driver’s license and National Police Check.

• Strong economic/business research and analysis skills applied working in the private, public or not-for-profit sectors with proficiency applying a range of analysis tools (e.g. MS OFFICE including advanced MS EXCEL skills and PowerBI. Experience of applying other analytical packages is desirable). This includes demonstrating a highly organised approach with strong attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to collect, process and combine information from a wide range of sources including desktop research, the use of purchased datasets and using information identified in collaboration with external stakeholders.

• Strong track record of working effectively within a diverse team environment. Demonstrating the ability to thrive in a busy, flexible environment, working collaboratively with multiple, internal stakeholders and effectively managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.

• Openness to working in a culturally diverse and remote setting. Explaining how your experience and goals provide assurance that you would be interested in economic development and comfortable working in a remote town on Aboriginal land.
